The first day of the workshop will be a Roped Bowl and the key learning points will be bowl design, how to create a rope texture and methods to produce the desirable result.
Techniques You Will Learn:
· Tools to use to obtain a good surface
· How to sharpen the tools
· How to control the form and to self-critique your bowl (curve, shape, balance, proportion, use...)
· How to create a "rope" texture while keeping the shape and contrast it with the clean wood surface
· How to finish the base on a wood chuck
· Recommendations for a finish
Day Two
The second day of the workshop will be a Raindrop Box and the key learning points will be box making, design and proportion. We will also explore fine scratch texturing, ring inlay and raindrop shapes.
Techniques You Will Learn:
· Back hollowing end grain technique
· How to inlay a ring to create a contrast
· What tools to use for a good surface
· How to sharpen the tools
· How to control the form
