Looking to add a bit more pizazz to your pieces? Have you thought about inlays but don’t know how to get started?  Or tried it and it didn’t go so well?

Welcome Scott Grove, the guru on inlays and veneering techniques!  Scott will teach us how to inlay minerals and shells: paua abalone, mother of pearl, calcite and exquisite crushed opal, to any bowl, platter or hollow form rim, and add creative, aesthetic, and monetary value to your work.

He will describe the differences between encapsulated, exposed, and see-through inlays, and how to create each type using a myriad of techniques.

Scott will also touch on how to use filigree wire inlay with a few basic tools and techniques that will enhance your work with fine accents and details.

The demonstration will explore:

  - basic inlay methods

  - compare resin options (CA, epoxy, UV-cure polyester)

  - the sanding and finishing process

  - fundamentals like simple tool making

  - forming wire and piercing

  - material options and design

  - and a bunch of tips and tricks.

We hope you will join us Thursday evening September 9th for this informative demonstration of this unique technique.
